Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will miss Germany’s friendly international with Argentina on Wednesday through injury.
The Bayern Munich shot-stopper picked up a knock in his side’s 2-1 German Super Cup win over Borussia Dortmund on Sunday and has decided to withdraw from Joachim Loew’s squad.
“This is a real shame. I would have liked to be part of the team for this game. I hope that my team-mates will record a win nonetheless,” Neuer was said.
Loew has opted to call-up Borussia Moenchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen as the former Schalke man’s replacement.
The 20-year-old Ter Stegen made his official Germany debut in a friendly against Switzerland ahead of Euro 2012.
Wednesday’s friendly takes place in Frankfurt.
