The 16 MLS players going to Copa America

After relocation dilemmas, the 2021 Copa America is finally set to kick off this weekend in Brazil.

The 47th edition of the tournament will see 10 South American and CONMEBOL countries face each other from June 13 to July 10.

Copa America was originally scheduled to play in 2020, but officials delayed the tournament a year due to Covid-19. The pandemic also forced co-host nations Colombia and Argentina to relinquish their titles to Brazil amid concerns of high transmission rates. A supreme court ruled Brazil fit to host the tournament after similar concerns over their handling of the pandemic.

Brazil is joined in Group B by Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela, while Group A is formed by Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. The final is set for July 10 at the famous Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Major League Soccer players will be in high attendance as 16 athletes from 12 different clubs take their place in one of world football’s most prestigious tournaments. Here is a guide to the MLS players involved at Copa America 2021.
