Manchester United submit first offer for Jadon Sancho

Manchester United have submitted their first official offer for Jadon Sancho as they look to land the England international this summer.

Last month, 90min reported there is an acceptance within the Borussia Dortmund hierarchy that Sancho will be sold during the summer. The Red Devils went after the former Man City youngster last summer but were unable to complete a deal due to the Bundesliga outfit’s £100m asking price.

According to BILD, the value of United’s opening offer is £60m (€69.5m) and while it’s widely believed they’ll need to increase that figure substantially in order to force the deal through, it’s a starting point.

It’s said Dortmund are asking for something closer to £77.7m (€90m) plus bonuses but they do so from a position of strength, knowing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are desperate to land Sancho.

While the winger would have preferred to have seen his future resolved ahead of Euro 2020, that now looks highly unlikely and if he were to perform well during the tournament his value could yet increase further.

The German outlet also report that personal terms have already been agreed between Sancho and the Premier League giants, equating to approximately €15m year, making him one of England’s highest earners.

Sancho moved to the Bundesliga back in 2017 for a fee of £7.05m. Having spotted his talent early and nurtured it, Dortmund stand to make a huge profit on their investment on the 21-year-old.

While his outputs last season were down on the 2019/20 season, partly due to injury, he still managed 20 direct goal contributions.

For now, Sancho’s attention will be on Euro 2020. England face Croatia, Scotland and the Czech Republic in the group stage, with the Dortmund winger competing with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford for a spot in the starting XI.
