Manchester United have been handed a boost with news that transfer target Andre Silva has a £26m release clause this summer.
The Portugal international has been in terrific form for Eintracht Frankfurt this season after signing on a permanent transfer in the summer, scoring 24 goals and registering four assists in 28 games in all competitions.
He has outscored the highly-sought after Erling Haaland in the Bundesliga this season and his form has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs once more following a failed stint at AC Milan.
With Manchester United in the market for a striker and chasing heavyweights Harry Kane and Haaland, there is potential that they could look to sign a cheaper option to improve the squad as they look to bolster other positions too, and Silva is a name they have also been linked with.
According to Sport1, Silva has a release clause of just €30m (£26m) and would be willing to move to a top team if they came calling, despite Frankfurt being well placed to qualify for the Champions League.
It’s been reported that Man Utd are keen for Silva that they are keen to link him up with international teammate Bruno Fernandes, and news of such a relatively low release clause will make a transfer even more appealing.
With United looking to strengthen in plenty of other core areas as well this summer, spending a fraction of the amount on a striker who has outperformed all their current options could be seen as shrewd business and allow Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to spend more on other positions.
Edinson Cavani has scored nine goals in all competitions this season, while Anthony Martial has scored seven times this season for the Red Devils. Their less than prolific returns have seen United rely heavily on Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, who have both hit over 20 goals during the current campaign.
