West Ham Reach Agreement to Sign Steven Nzonzi Ahead of Signature ‘in Coming Days’

West Ham are said to have reached an agreement to sign Steven Nzonzi, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Italian side Roma.

Nzonzi joined the Turkish side on loan and has gone on to make 15 appearances in all competitions for the club this season. However, he has not played since early December after falling out of favour.

As a result, he has been linked with a move elsewhere. 90min recently learned that although other Premier League sides have expressed an interest in the 31-year-old, Aston Villa were leading the race for his signature and were working hard to finalise a deal.

However, Turkish newspaper Gunes are now reporting that it is, in fact, West Ham who have seemingly won the race for the midfielder’s signature. They claim that a deal has been agreed with Roma as manager David Moyes looks to bolster his squad before the end of the January window.

An official announcement will be made in the ‘coming days’, with Galatasaray also said to be ‘more than happy’ to part ways with Nzonzi. While an agreement has been reached, the report does not mention what kind of deal has been struck.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Hammers have enquired about a loan deal, but Roma are demanding around £3.5m for a loan fee, while the player is also on a hefty salary. However, Nzonzi himself is keen to move to London, where he has family. The report also claims that Moyes believes he will be an asset to his squad, with the player having spent time in the Premier League in the past.

Moyes’ men currently find themselves sat level on points with 18th placed Bournemouth in the league, but they have played two games fewer. The Hammers next face a trip to take on Leicester City on Wednesday.
