Chelsea & West Ham Refuse to Meet CSKA Moscow’s Asking Price for Fyodor Chalov

Chelsea and West Ham have both decided against pursuing the signing of CSKA Moscow striker Fyodor Chalov due to the asking price.

An injury to Tammy Abraham and the likely departure of Olivier Giroud means Chelsea are in need of another body up top, while West Ham need firepower to steer them to safety.

However, it appears neither London side will be bringing in Russia international Chalov to help solve their striking woes.

The Daily Star write that both clubs have been put off by CSKA’s £25m asking price for the 21-year-old, and so will not be pursuing a deal in this window.

Chalov has hardly been in prolific form so far this season, scoring just six goals in 27 games in all competitions.

He was heavily linked with a move to Crystal Palace in the summer, but a move never materialised and it’s unlikely that the Selhurst Park club will move for him again after bringing in Cenk Tosun from Everton.

The striker’s agent admitted at the time of Palace’s interest that it’s understandable why CSKA are so reluctant to sell.

“Fedor is one of the most striking players in Europe, and the increased interest in him is completely justified,” he said.

“Especially from the side of one Premier League club, which made a significant offer, but CSKA refused to sell the player.

“The position of CSKA is completely understandable – they have serious goals, and Fedor is the most important player for them.

“We will follow the development of events and are sure that in any case has a great future.”

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Edinson Cavani in the last few days, but a transfer seems unlikely, with the PSG forward seemingly preferring a move to Atletico Madrid instead.

West Ham, meanwhile, have opened talks with French club Amiens regarding a loan move for Serhou Guirassy.

The 23-year-old only joined Amiens from German side Köln in the summer, but could be set to make the switch to London Stadium, according to Sky Sports.
