Juventus Officially Confirm 1-Year Contract Extension for Leonardo Bonucci

Serie A champions Juventus have officially confirmed a new contract extension for defender Leonardo Bonucci, keeping him at the club until 2024.

The 32-year-old’s previous deal wasn’t set to expire until 2023, but Juventus have seen it fit to reward Bonucci with new terms following a return to form after his unsuccessful spell with AC Milan.

The Italy international initially joined the club from Bari in 2010, going on to make 376 appearances for Juventus where he’s scored 25 goals and claimed 10 assists.

Bonucci currently ranks 19th as Juventus’ all-time appearance maker, but the 32-year-old will likely take his tally to over 400 this season, while he could even break into the 500s if the news of a new contract proves to be true.

He’s won 15 major honours with Juventus since his move nine years ago, while this season Bonucci has even been trusted with the captain’s armband in the absence of injured veteran Giorgio Chiellini.

While Bonucci will be hopeful of adding a ninth Serie A title to his collection this season, Juventus are currently locked in their toughest title fight in years with Antonio Conte’s Inter.

The Bianconeri do still have a one-point lead at the top of Serie A, and both sides have a similar fixture schedule in terms of difficulty ahead of the new year.

Having seen Juventus come out on top thanks to a brace from Paulo Dybala when these sides last met in October, eyes are already on their next meeting which is set to take place in Turin at the start of March.

Juve are also said to be in contract renewal talks with Wojciech Szczesny and Juan Cuadrado.
