Mignolet’s agent seeking Liverpool exit ‘solution’ amid Barcelona transfer talk

Simon Mignolet is looking for a way out of Liverpool, with the representative of a goalkeeper now being linked with Barcelona admitting that Alisson’s arrival at Anfield means ‘a solution’ must be found.

The 30-year-old was already expected to be on the move this summer after slipping out of favour under Jurgen Klopp.

It has been suggested that La Liga giants Barca are among those prepared to open talks as they ready themselves for the departure of current back-up Jasper Cillessen.

Mignolet would have been hoping to find regular starting berths away from Merseyside, but is ruling nothing out at this stage.

His representative is exploring all options, with a record-breaking £65 million ($85m) deal for Alisson set to hasten the departure of a man who has spent five years with Liverpool.

Nico Vaesen told Belgian news outlet Walfoot: “It doesn’t change the situation [Alisson’s arrival].

“Our goal is to find a solution for Simon to play and Alisson’s arrival doesn’t change that.

“We know that a player of €60-70million won’t find himself on the bench. We are looking at the situation and looking for a solution to his playing time.

“There are options, the next few days will be decisive.”

He is now ready to press ahead with those plans after making 200 appearances for Liverpool.
