Raheem Sterling gets the nod for England over Marcus Rashford in attack as the Three Lions open their World Cup campaign against Tunisia.
Ahead of Monday’s Russia debut the big doubt in Gareth Southgate’s squad had been over the man to accompany Harry Kane in a two-man attack.
But while both Rashford and Sterling saw game time in the build-up to the finals, the Manchester City star has won out over his United rival.
Southgate starts the World Cup with a three-man defence and plenty of width in the team, with the likes of Jesse Lingard, Sterling, Kieran Trippier and Ashley Young providing options going forward.
Tunisia: Hassen-Bronn, S.Ben Youssef, Meriah, Maaloul-Skhiri, Sassi, Sliti- Badri, F.Ben Youssef, Khazri.
England: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire; Trippier, Lingard, Henderson, Alli, Young; Sterling, Kane.
