Brazil to meet Croatia at Anfield

The five-time world champions will play their World Cup warm-up on June 3 at the home of Liverpool Football Club

The Brasil Global Tour will stop at a world football heritage site in June with the Selecao to meet Croatia at Anfield.

The five-time world champions announced the date and opposition of the fixture last month during BGT’s stop in Moscow.

And, on Monday, Anfield was confirmed as the venue for the first of Brazil’s two World Cup warm-up matches that month.

Brazil will also meet Austria at the Ernst-Happel Stadion, Viena, on June 10.

The match with Croatia will mark Brazil’s fourth official match in the city, but their first at Anfield.

The Selecao played all three of their World Cup 1966 group games at neighbouring Goodison Park, which was also the venue for their 1995 clash with Japan in the Umbro Cup.

The match will be particularly special for current Liverpool and Brazil forward Roberto Firmino, who already has his place in coach Tite’s World Cup squad confirmed.
