21′ Perotti surges forward into the final third and sends an offload for Dzeko to strike on the edge of the box, but the forward can only fire straight at Pyatov.

20′ WIDE! Manolas wastes a huge opportunity for the visitors. The defender rises unchallenged from a corner from the left, he meets Kolarov’s cross with his header, only to glance his effort wide of the target.

18′ The resulting set-piece is a waste and it allows Roma to clear from a goal-kick. Fonseca will not be thrilled with his side letting the visitors off the hook.

17′ Marlos weaves his way to the edge of the box and looks to slide a pass in for Taison, but the visitors scramble the ball behind for a corner.

16′ Perotti goes for a drive from distance, but he cannot force the ball between Fred and Stepanenko, who make the decisive block.

13′ Marlos is played over the top by Ismaily from a diagonal pass to the right flank. He beats the challenge of Kolarov and drills the ball low towards the near post. Alisson gets down and although the ball goes through his legs, he’s able to gather before it crosses the line.

11′ Ismaily has a surge down the left flank and drills a low cross into the box. It takes a deflection off Florenzi, but Kolarov comes in with a big boot to hammer it away from danger.

10′ The game has been end-to-end in the early stages, with both sides displaying flair in the final third.

9′ Bernard weaves his way into the box, but he cannot force an effort through the wall of white shirts on the edge of the six-yard area.

6′ OFF THE LINE! Perotti swings a cross into the box and it takes a deflection off Dzeko towards goal. Pyatov gets down to make the make, although he cannot hold it on the line. He’s forced to swipe it away from the Roma forward on the rebound. Fazio on the charge can only strike his effort straight at Stepanenko.

5′ Butko has to be alert at the back post after Under’s cross almost found the run of Perotti. The Shakhtar defender did well to head behind under pressure.

4′ CLOSE! Marlos sends the ball out to the left for Bernard, who sends Ismaily down the left inside channel. The full-back fires the ball across the face of goal, but Ferreyra on the stretch cannot make contact in the middle.

2′ The visitors win an early corner down the left, but Perotti’s cross into the middle is charged down by Bernard.

1′ We’re underway at the Metalist Stadium.

The team news has been announced and we’ll start with the home side.

Roma edged out Chelsea to secure top spot in Group C and it yielded a favourable draw, facing Shakhtar rather than Barcelona. However, there’s still work ahead for Eusebio Di Francesco’s men to advance to the quarter-finals. They did show vulnerabilities during the group stage, while their league form has seen delved into a battle for a top-four place. I Lupi have won their last three matches and will enter the contest with momentum.

Shakhtar performed brilliantly to finish second in Group F, placing behind Manchester City. The Ukranian side were the one side to beat City during the group stage, recording a 2-1 victory in the final round of matches. Paulo Fonseca’s men were able to edge out Napoli for second place, defeating the Italian outfit on home soil. They will be aiming for a repeat performance against another Serie A team this evening.

Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the round-of-16 Champions League clash between Shakhtar Donetsk and Roma at the Metalist Stadium.
