Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is expected to play against Leicester City on Saturday after fears over an elbow injury were allayed.
Krul underwent scans on Monday, having been hurt while on international duty with Netherlands.
Those scans confirmed that the 26-year-old had sustained an elbow ligament injury. However, following further assessment, Newcastle have revealed that the problem is not serious.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “Tim Krul has been further assessed by the club’s medical staff and the club can confirm that he has nothing more than a very minor elbow injury.
“The club will continue to monitor the situation but are confident that he will be available for the game against Leicester City on Saturday.”
The news will come as a boost to under-fire Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, whose position at the club has come under continued scrutiny due to the team’s abysmal start to the Premier League season.
Newcastle are yet to claim a Premier League win so far this term, taking only four points from seven games.
