Tottenham full-back Ben Davies is itching to get started in the Premier League after making his White Hart Lane bow for the club.
The Wales international joined the Londoners from Swansea City on a five-year deal last month.
Spurs rounded off their pre-season schedule by defeating Bundesliga outfit Schalke 2-1 on home turf last Saturday, their only outing at White Hart Lane during the close-season.
Davies – who replaced Danny Rose at half-time – described making his home debut as an “honour” and the 21-year-old is eager for the top flight to get underway, starting with Saturday’s trip to West Ham.
“We’re looking forward to it,” he told the club’s official website. “We’re on a high after pre-season and hopefully we can go there and get off to a positive start.
“It was great to get out on the pitch for the first time and we were really appreciative of the reception.
“It was a real honour to play in front of the home crowd and I’m glad we got the win.”
Spurs’ victory over the Germans completed an unbeaten pre-season schedule for Mauricio Pochettino’s men and forward Harry Kane believes the side are in good stead ahead of the weekend’s clash.
“The lads looked sharp, we kept the ball well – just being more clinical is maybe all we could have asked for,” Kane added. “Now we’re looking forward to the first Premier League game on Saturday against West Ham.”
