Wenger: Walcott and Persie are staying!

“With Theo and Van Persie, that will be sorted out at the end of the season. Theo is playing very well. He has improved his technical level a lot, his links with other players and his calmness in front of goal. He is developing very well.”

“It is something I will look to sort out very early. Yes, I am confident they will sign. To say that I am always confident, yes I am. We want to keep our best players.”

Mourinho: Interista forever!

“Inter is my home, a return home is always possible. It’s the same with ‘Lele’ (Gabriele Oriali, former technical director of Inter) – he must go home.”

“Like all the Inter fans I want him (Stramaccioni) to do well. I’m sorry for Ranieri, but football is like this. When things go wrong, coaches are changed.”

About Materazzi with who he had special relationship: “I miss him a lot, but we are close now and we always will be. I’m sure he’s happy with our (Jose’s new club, Real Madrid) result today (Tuesday). For me, he will always be a brother.”

Damiao looking for European club

“I would like to play in Italy along with two of my favourite strikers, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani. But I think I might also do well in Spain or England. I’m used to living with rumours of European clubs interested in me and already being sold to several teams in different countries.”

“The time is right to go to Europe, but only to wear the jersey of a team as strong as Internacional. However, I am ready. I like to see myself as a physically powerful striker, who never gives up. I always try to steal the ball from defenders, do not let them play quietly.”

Wenger on future transfers

“Quantity-wise we will not do a lot. Quality-wise certainly, and we will take a gamble if we find top, top quality of course. The number of the squad is 25. We have many players out on loan and we have not had Jack Wilshere or Abou Diaby for the whole season.”

“These players will be back and that means number and quality wise we are strong because we are now in the position we are in without these players. Last year was terrible for us because we finished on the 31st August at 11.55pm and we do not want to repeat that.”

On Podolski’s rumours: “Nothing is done. No, he has not had a medical. I don’t master the timing because that does not just rely on us. It could happen soon, it could happen later, I don’t know. It is always a concern. The speed in which you do things is important, but at the end of the day it is always the player who makes the decision. It is about how much they want to join you.”

On Premiership position: “Third is better than fourth, but if you have no choice, you take fourth and the opportunity. Let’s see how it goes now. I believe Newcastle are still in the fight, as are Tottenham and Chelsea. Liverpool are maybe too far off, but you never know.”

Rossi going back to Italy?

Agent of Giuseppe Rossi: “Lavezzi going to England and Rossi to Napoli? I cannot confirm, but it is a possibility that Lavezzi might leave Napoli. I cannot rule out Rossi joining Napoli. After five years at Villarreal, I think that all parties are more susceptible to listening to the offers that arrive. We will see, but one thing is clear: Villarreal are open to selling Rossi, and the player is ready to leave the club.”

“Giuseppe has never hidden the fact that he dreams of playing for a top club. We consider Inter to be a top top club, but he would like to play in the Champions League. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean he would turn down Inter even if they don’t qualify.”

“It has unfortunately been a negative season for Giuseppe so far due to the knee injury. At the moment, he is solely focusing on recovering, and he might still play some Liga games this term.”
