Liverpool v West Bromwich Albion: Klopp’s men to shake off derby disappointment

After being held to a bitterly disappointing draw in Sunday’s Merseyside derby against Everton, Liverpool will be keen to make an immediate return to winning ways when they line up against West Bromwich Albion at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Reds can certainly take confidence from their recent form for, despite being held by the Toffees at the weekend, Jurgen Klopp’s charges are unbeaten in their last 10 matches in all competitions and have won won seven of those.

It is little surprise, then, that Liverpool are red hot 11/50 (1.22) favourites with Betsafe to take all three points from this fixture, while West Brom can be backed at 14/1 (15.0) with the same firm to claim their first win since Alan Pardew replaced Tony Pulis as manager.

Betsafe go 32/5 (7.40) that these two teams settle for a share of the spoils – a selection that would have landed in both of Liverpool’s last two league matches on their own patch.

The Reds, however, have scored at least three goals in each of their last 11 victories in all competitions, whilst Mohamed Salah scored his 19th goal in 24 appearances in that draw with Everton and the Egyptian international will certainly pose a significant threat against the Baggies.

Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho, too, started the match against Everton on the substitutes’ bench and both players will fancy their chances of returning to the starting line-up for the visit of the beleaguered Baggies.

West Brom suffered a dismal 1-0 defeat against Swansea City at Liberty Stadium at the weekend, a result that stretched the Baggies’ winless run to 15 matches and their wretched record on the road is unlikely to inspire much confidence ahead of the trip to Anfield; indeed, the visitors have picked up just two points – whilst scoring just three goals – in their last seven Premier League ties on their travels.

Given that the Baggies have failed to find the net in four of their last six matches away from home, the 10/11 (1.91) quote for Liverpool to win without conceding may well prove popular, while the same firm offer a tempting 61/100 (1.61) that Klopp’s charges win by at least two goals on Merseyside on Wednesday night.

With the Reds in fantastic form in the final third, though, it is Betsafe’s 10/11 (1.91) quote for Klopp’s men to score more than two goals against the Baggies that could represent best value for punters here.
