Barcelona legend Ronaldinho has backed Pep Guardiola to repeat his success at Camp Nou with his Manchester City table-toppers.
After enduring mixed fortunes in his debut season at the Etihad Stadium, Pep has seen the Citizens beat all-comers so far in 2017-18.
Man City currently enjoy an eight-point lead at the Premier League summit and have also won four Champions League games out of four to breeze into the last 16.
When asked if the manager can repeat the success he enjoyed at Barca, Ronaldinho replied to the Mirror, “I believe so.
“As a player, he was already playing with a very technical mind, so he was playing as a coach, thinking about everything like a coach. So he has a deep knowledge of football.
“Wherever he goes, he understands much more than a normal coach. He understands the feeling on the field.”
Ronaldinho’s compatriot Gabriel Jesus has perhaps been the revelation of Pep’s short time at the Etihad.
The Brazilian youngster, signed from Palmeiras in January, has already smashed 15 goals in 21 Premier League games and looks certain to lead the Selecao as their first-choice centre-forward in the World Cup.
And the inspiration behind the nation’s last World Cup win in 2002 is a confirmed admirer.
“I totally believe he will have a big part to play for City going forward,” Ronaldinho added.
“I love his style of playing. I truly believe that at City he will make a difference.”
