Agent backs Bacca for Roma move

The Colombia international’s representative Sergio Barila has opened the doors to a Sevilla exit, tipping his client to star in Serie A

Carlos Bacca’s agent claims the Sevilla striker would jump at the chance to play for Roma.

The Serie A runners-up are looking for a new striker in order to break Juventus’ stronghold on Serie A, and have identified the Colombian as their top target.

And while claiming Bacca was more than happy to stay at Sanchez Pijuan, where he won back-to-back Europa League titles, his representative Sergio Barila admitted his client is ready to seeking a new challenge.

“Carlos is deeply religious. And in Rome, there is the pope. And apart from that we are talking about one of the best clubs [Roma],” Sergio Barila told Corriere dello Sport.

“If Bacca were to leave Sevilla, it will not be for the money, but a chance to play in the Champions League. We’ve already said no to lucrative offers out of China and the United Arab Emirates.

“Bacca is now totally focused on doing well with Colombia at the Copa America and is fine with, and grateful to, Sevilla, who helped him to be recognised at the international level.

“However, the market is unpredictable. We’ll have a meeting with Sevilla after the tournament and look at what’s on the table.”

The 28-year-old moved to Andalusia from Club Brugge for a mere €7 million in 2013, and has since scored 49 goals in 108 matches in all competitions.
